My Cat Is Amazing

This is my cat, Mask:

She was not amazing today. This is Felix:

Felix is not looking at the camera because he was busy, very busy.

Yeah, he killed it (whatever “it” was – some sort of mouse or gopher). Mike and I watched him stalk this thing for about 3 minutes before he pounced and emerged from the grass victorious. Then he ate the whole thing.

The circle of life is definitely happening at my house!!!

RAK #22: Gilberto Ramon Silva Menendez

This is the twenty-second of 49 random acts of kindness (RAKs) that I’m doing to honor the victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting. Hopefully each small act puts a little bit of happiness back out in the world!

This was another fun one – I found a spot at work that was out in the open and just left this behind. I hope someone really enjoys it!

This RAK is in honor of Gilberto Ramon Silva Menendez. He was known as the light in all of his family gatherings. He was studying healthcare management in Orlando at the time of his death. Rest in peace, Gilberto.

RAK #21: Enrique Rios

This is the twenty-first of 49 random acts of kindness (RAKs) that I’m doing to honor the victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting. Hopefully each small act puts a little bit of happiness back out in the world!

This RAK was another fun one – I had a gift card to Target. I found a random desk at work, and left it. Hopefully it made someone’s day!

This RAK is in honor of Enrique Rios. Enrique, a Brooklyn social worker, had traveled from New York to Orlando to celebrate a friend’s birthday. He is remembered by his family as a sharp, thoughtful person, who was very passionate. Rest in peace, Enrique.

The Chicken Chronicles: Chick Pics

New year, new chicks, right?

Sadly, I have to start off with one that didn’t make it. Little Red died this morning.

IMG_8308

I hate this part of animals… even when they’ve only been with me a little while, it makes me sad. I guess it’s not meant to be with me and the Rhode Island Reds… first Stretch last year, now Little Red. She was given a proper burial on the ranch.

Now, onto the happier part of the post… the living chicks and ducks. That’s right DUCKS! These little ducklings are so freaking adorable, it kills me! But first, the chicks.

This is Kramer, my Polish Crested. I know it’s not a very feminine name, but she’s going to have some crazy hair and the name fits! Google Polish Crested and you’ll find out what I mean!

IMG_8307

This is Dot, my Speckled Sussex. If you remember last year’s chickens, you’ll remember Cleo, who was also a hawk casualty. The Sussexes are beautiful and I wanted to get another one.

IMG_8309

This is Lacey, my Silver Laced Wyandotte. She’ll be another pretty one – basically all black with gray/silver “lacing” on her.

IMG_8310

This is Goldie, my Buff Orpington. I haven’t had one of these before, but thought a lighter colored chicken would go well with all of my dark ones!

IMG_8311

Now, onto the ducks. I don’t know enough to figure out what breed they are yet, but I’m doing some research. I’m waiting to name them until I know a little more about them and can see their little personalities.

Well, that’s it for the new members of the ranch!

RAK #20: Xavier Emmanuel Serrano Rosado

This is the twentieth of 49 random acts of kindness (RAKs) that I’m doing to honor the victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting. Hopefully each small act puts a little bit of happiness back out in the world!

Not all acts of kindness are random! I ran an errand at lunch today and grabbed lunch at La Bou on my way back. I can’t seem to leave that place with out a croissant and decided to bring one back for my sister!

This RAK is in honor of Xavier Emmanuel Serrano Rosado. He was a father to a young son and a talented dancer. He danced at Disney Live and was known for his salsa moves. He died with his boyfriend Leroy Fernandez. Rest in peace, Xavier.

RAK # 19: Mercedez Marisol Flores

This is the nineteenth of 49 random acts of kindness (RAKs) that I’m doing to honor the victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting. Hopefully each small act puts a little bit of happiness back out in the world!

For this RAK, I bought lunch for the lady behind me in the drive through. It was simple, but her smile as I watched in my rear view mirror made my day!

This RAK is in honor of Mercedez Marisol Flores. She loved music and had a smile that could light up the room. She was a hardworking student who was interested in event planning. Rest in peace, Mercedez.

RAK #18: Luis Daniel Wilson-Leon

This is the eighteenth of 49 random acts of kindness (RAKs) that I’m doing to honor the victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting. Hopefully each small act puts a little bit of happiness back out in the world!

I have decided that instead of giving something up for Lent this year, that I will do an act of kindness each day. This is #2. Yesterday, my work held a volunteer day (seriously, how cool is that?) in which we were encouraged to take time out of the work day to go do good in the community. I, of course, chose the horse rescue to work with. All About Equine is a local horse rescue that does amazing things. I chose to take some time afterward to provide a small monetary donation as well!

This RAK is in honor of Luis Daniel Wilson-Leon. He was known as a protector of his friends who never retaliated with hate. He died with his partner of eight years, Jean Carlos Mendez Perez and the two were inseparable. They were buried in a joint funeral. Rest in peace, Luis.

RAK #17: Martin Benitez Torres

This is the seventeenth of 49 random acts of kindness (RAKs) that I’m doing to honor the victims of the Orlando Pulse nightclub shooting. Hopefully each small act puts a little bit of happiness back out in the world!

I have decided that instead of giving something up for Lent this year, that I will do an act of kindness each day. I’m a bit behind on posted, but this is the first one. One of my Facebook friends posted a Go Fund Me for her husband’s grandson – little Calogero who was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma, with several masses throughout his body. No child should have to face what this brave little boy is going through – he started chemo already.

This RAK is in honor of Martin Benitez Torres. He was a college student visiting family in Orlando (from Puerto Rico) when he was killed. He was an avid cook and described by friends and family as diligent and hardworking. He was always smiling and well loved. Rest in peace, Martin.
