Today I’m doing a special second Favorite Song Friday, in honor of George Jones who died last week at the age of 81. The song is his famous “He Stopped Loving Her Today“, arguably one of the best country songs of all time.

Favorite Song Friday – “Highway Don’t Care”
So, there’s something really interesting about Tim McGraw… most of the time when I first hear one of his songs, I hate it. Then, I listen again and it grows on me. This was compounded on “Highway Don’t Care” because I’m sort of over Taylor Swift, but she sings that terribly catchy hook (“I can’t live without you, I can’t love without you bayyyyybayyyyy”) that I just can’t get out of my head. Now I find myself singing along every time I hear it!
I love the guitar work at the end of the song… lo and behold, it’s Keith Urban wailing away. It sounds very Journey-ish!
I don’t think they have a music video out yet, so here is the ACM awards earlier this year.
Favorite Song Friday – “When I Was Your Man”
This week’s favorite song is “When I Was Your Man” by Bruno Mars. In case you haven’t noticed, this guy is EVERYWHERE right now. It seems like one of his songs is on nearly every radio channel I turn to. This particular song has beautiful lyrics – a reflection of the “what I should have done” thoughts.
A New Concert
I’m excited to add another concert to the 2013 Concert Calendar (click HERE to see the page). The latest is a group I’ve been wanting to see for quite a few years now, but stuff just kept getting in the way. Yup, I’m finally going to see Straight No Chaser. For those of you unfamiliar with them, watch this video (all the way through!):
Since that fateful 1998 video, SNC has come out with several albums, mostly that cover pop songs with their 10 person a capella group. They are absolutely talented and amazing… I can’t wait to see them live!
Favorite Song Friday – “Thrift Shop”
I have no idea why, but this song has been stuck in my head for like two weeks. Ok, I do know why… it’s on the radio ALL the time. But it’s catchy and I find myself singing along every time. It’s “Thrift Shop” by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. I absolutely love the horn line – I think that’s what hooks me!
Happy Friday everyone!
The 20/20 Experience
FINALLY Justin Timberlake has come out with a new album, titled The 20/20 Experience. I was super excited to get tickets to see his show later this year (I’ve seen him in the past and he’s an amazing performer) and am now even more excited now that he has new material!
There are big chunks of this album that remind me of old school JT, and there are big chunks that are very Robin Thicke-esq. I love the mixture of the two. It definitely has a more R&B focused sound to it, which I think his voice fits perfectly into.
I don’t necessarily think that this album is as great as FutureSex/LoveSounds was, but it’s right up there. Can’t wait for the show!

Favorite Songs: “Let The Groove Get In”, “Mirrors“, and “Suit & Tie“
Favorite Song Friday – “Crush”
This week’s favorite song Friday selection is in honor of one of my all time favorite bands, Dave Matthews Band. I’m super excited to announce that I’ve added another show to my 2013 concert calendar (click here for the Concert Calendar Page) – we’re going to see DMB (again!) with Sean and Erin in September.
“Crush“, from the Before These Crowded Streets album, has always been my favorite DMB song – I love how mellow it is. The bass line is kick ass and I just absolutely love Dave’s voice. Can’t wait for the show!!!
Favorite Song Friday – “I Will Wait”
This week’s favorite song Friday is a band that’s getting a lot of air time right now. Mumford & Sons is quickly becoming one of my favorite bands. I’ve seen them perform on TV a couple of times and am blown away at the sheer amount of talent these guys have. On SNL, Marcus Mumford was singing, playing guitar, and playing the drum with his foot. Those are some serious musical chops. You can tell by watching the band that they just FEEL the music… I love it!
“I Will Wait” is the song that is all over the radio right now… and I love it! I really like the folk roots of this band and how honest their music is (and the banjos, and the harmonies, and well, you get it). Marcus Mumford has written most of their music. I seriously hope they go on tour sometime soon and that they come somewhere close to my town!
Favorite Song Friday – “I Drive Your Truck”
Today’s song is sort of a sad one. It’s called “I Drive Your Truck” by Lee Brice. I’m going to see him in August (with Brad Paisley) and am super excited. The song is about a man whose brother died in the Army and he copes with it by driving his truck around. Trust me, he’s much more eloquent about it.
Happy Friday!
Favorite Song Friday – “Hot Mess”
This song has seriously been stuck on my head and sing every time the commercial comes on TV. Happy Friday!
